2023 Adapt & Adjust
Today we are getting a heck of a snow storm - it’s supposed to be spring, but instead we are getting pounded with snow. It feels like winter will never end!
Yesterday we were heartbroken to learn that the litter out of Fizzie this spring was not meant to be. We have pivoted our plans and we are in the process of making arrangements for Scout to be bred this spring once she comes into season.
Scout is our pick from our Fizz/Shyne litter, she is an athletic and energetic girl who thrives on training and playing. She is a fun loving girl with a sense of humour (and maybe a bit of an ego!) but who is intense about her bond with myself and my partner. This breeding should produce high trainability and would be best suited to people who can keep a toller entertained with an active lifestyle and training. Once Scout comes into season, we will update with the expected timeline and selected stud! Check out some of Scout’s training below to see how she works!
2023 Spring Litter
We have some exciting plans for Fizz this spring. We chose a stud dog who is a very nice match for Fizz and will hopefully improve some of her weaknesses without compromising her strengths. His pedigree gives us many options for the next generation if we are successful.
Fizz was bred by TCI in early March. Her cytology and progesterone timing and semen look great so now we wait to see if the breeding is a success. The ultrasound is scheduled at the end of the month.
Fizz, waiting for progesterone draw. Timing is critical, especially with artificial insemination breeding. We worked in collaboration with our local veterinary team at Walden Animal Hospital, and our reproduction specialist at Graham Animal Hospital.
Our lovely stud choice is busy training down in the southern US, so we decided to go ahead with shipping Fresh Chilled semen. Despite some Fedex delays, the quality on arrival was excellent, so we are hopeful this breeding will be a succes!
